DIY Scrub

I have always been a huge fan of making my own homemade beauty recipes. Especially when you can get all of the ingredients from your kitchen. I would like to share my favourite recipes, I have integrated in to my beauty regime over the years, with you.

For this cold season I will show you how to treat your chapped lips, dry hands and skin. The main problem is dehydration, which causes excessive dryness. Something that happens a lot during this time of the year.

For the recipes you will be using:

1/2 cup Raw Honey

  • natural antibacterial and humectant
  • keeps pores clear and clean
  • loaded with antioxidants and enzymes
  • extremely moisturising and soothing – gives you a beautiful glow
  • anti-blemish

1 cup Brown Sugar

  • makes an excellent exfoliant
  • increases cell regeneration
  • natural humectant

2 tbs Organic Coconut Oil

  • skin softener and moisturiser
  • full of fatty acids
  • nourishes and heals skin
  • anti-bacterial

3 tbs Almond Milk

  • high in zinc
  • rich in vitamin E

For your lips, mix the raw honey with the brown sugar. Then gently start exfoliating your lips (don’t be to harsh as they are very delicate, especially when dry). Let it work for 1-2 minutes and then wash it off with warm water. Moisturise your lips with a lip balm.

For your hands, add the coconut oil to the raw honey and brown sugar and start rubbing your hands with the mixture. After 1-2 minutes rinse them off with warm water.

At the end add the almond milk to the rest of the mixture and use it as a face and body exfoliator. If you use it for your body, do it in the shower and wash it off with warm water. Use on dry skin prior to showering.

This will leave your skin and lips feeling so soft!

Note

My sister really likes to use the scrub for her body and face (I mix it for her). Although this is very useful, I prefer to use other body exfoliators ( I will do a post on them too). But I love the honey and sugar lip scrub! And depending on how dry my lips are, I do it twice a week or once a month.

You can always add more of an ingredient if you would like to.

This is great for women and men. Enjoy scrubbing!
